If you're looking for a place with great views and total seclusion, West Rim Texas Canyon may be the spot for you. The easiest starting point is off Arch Canyon Road, though you may need a higher clearance vehicle to get past the ruts. At the first fork, park and follow the road up the steep, rocky slopes. You'll eventually come to a wooden hitching post with a brown sign. Follow the directions and climb the red dirt road. The view from the top will be worth it, with the swirling sandstone of Texas Canyon in full view. The trail then continues through a narrow cliffside singletrack and descends through a deciduous forest. After navigating some overgrown doubletrack, the trail ends near Elk Mountain Road and the Bears Ears rock formations.
