Posey Canyon Trail

The Posey Canyon Trail - South, #166, is 3.0 miles long.  The trailhead is at Forest Road #200 (East Point) near Forest Road #088 (South Elk Ridge) and ends at the intersection of Forest Trails #012 (Hammond Canyon) and #005 (Cream Pots).  This scenic trail begins with a steep section before following a slickrock bench which has many short drop-offs which can be difficult to negotiate.  The last mile before the trail intersection includes another steep section to enter a side-canyon from Hammond Canyon.  This trail can be combined with Forest Trails #012 (Hammond Canyon) and #005 (Cream Pots) as well as South Elk Ridge Road (#088) and South Elks Road (#092) to create overnight backpacking loops or one-way through hikes.
