Most of the trail is sandy doubletrack or low-angle bedrock, but there are sections where the route runs on the actual buried pipeline rubble which can be steep and deep, requiring you to walk down to cross the ravines, and drag your bike back up. The trail ends at the Kane Creek Canyon Trail across from the Hole 'N' The Rock tourist trap. Riding north from the middle is much easier, more fun, and more scenic than riding south from Kane Creek.
