Unique Creations and Gifts
Looking for scrapbooking supplies, flowers, baby gifts, home decor or something for someone special in San Juan County? Just the name will clue you to the fact that if you are looking for something different, Unique Creations and Gifts will probably scratch that itch. Sarah Pipkin, owner of the store and her goods, have been a fixture in Monticello since July of 2001.
If you know any princesses or ballerinas in the 2 to 5 year old age bracket this is the place to shop. With what appears to be over 10 yards of toddler tu-tu’s along the south wall, one could go out on a limb and say this is the largest collection of such finery in all of the Four Corners. And there’s a pretty good selection of the things a toddler princess needs to feel appreciated by her subjects too. Sorry but if your ballerina or princess is full grown you’ll have to look elsewhere. However aside from tu-tu’s and princess garb, there is a pretty diverse gift selection for those you may be shopping for of any age or gender.
Those in need of craft supplies can find most anything here. Including classes...well you could, and you probably will be able to in the future. Although the 10 or so tables she has in the back of the store are empty now, Sarah offered scrapbooking and craft classes that were pretty popular in the community.
And Sarah is trying to fill the void for those who enjoyed the camaraderie only a group of glue smearing, glitter spreading scrapbooking buddies can understand. “I did a Facebook Live Event last week and will try to do another one soon.” Sarah says. Comments on the Unique Creations and Gifts Facebook page reveal a pretty happy customer base.
Of the Covid-19 pandemic and its necessity for social distancing, Sarah says things are fine, adding “ I usually don’t have more than 2 to 4 customers at a time unless it’s a holiday.”
She has made a few changes though. “ I have tried to be vigilant in cleaning and sanitizing after each customer. I am temporarily close on Saturdays until this is over because I am the only one working.”
She has a message to those who have been customers. “I appreciate all those who continue to support my business during this hard time. I have been busy making craft kits and selling lots of flowers. I have been able to brighten days for many people delivering flowers. It’s a perfect way for people to let each other know they care even though we all have to keep our distance right now.”
