Cedar Mesa & Comb Ridge Archaeology

With guest archaeologist Jonathan Till – curator at Edge of the Cedars State Park Museum – and CFI guides learn about the Cedar Mesa and Comb Ridge area and its fascinating history that spans thousands of years. In visiting several well known sites with an insider’s view, you'll learn recent research findings and contextual relationships that tie the past to the present. Till covers Archaic through historic occupations with special emphasis “The Chaco Phenomenon” around 1000-1100 A.D. you'll see cultural features in the Bluff region such as great houses, great kivas, roads, earthen berms and shrines. In typical CFI style, you'll also learn about geology, plants, wildlife and current issues, and well as enjoy stunning autumn colors.
