April 19, 2024
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Monticello Field Office is pleased to announce an exhibit displaying the artwork of 2023 Artist in Residence Shelley Hull, at Edge of the Cedars State Park Museum from April 19, 2024, through October 2024. Hull will give a presentation on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the museum’s auditorium to share her experience as an Artist-in-Residence and to present her artwork to the public. The museum is located at 660 W 400 N, Blanding, UT 84511.
Hull’s residency at Bears Ears National Monument took place in the autumn of 2023 and is the subject of her art exhibit. During her residency, she explored the amazing landscapes in the region, painted them, and made sketches that would later serve as the basis for her artwork. She hopes her paintings will spread the sense of awe she feels when exploring and painting in Canyon Country. She wishes to encourage viewers to support protecting the Bear Ears region from pillage, desecration, or ruin.
The Canyon Country Artist-in-Residence program is sponsored by the Canyonlands Natural History Association and the Bureau of Land Management. To learn more about this program and for updates on the public presentation, visit the BLM Canyon Country Facebook Page and Artist in Residence website.
