Behind the Rocks Loop Shortcut Trail

If you're riding the 24-Hours of Moab trail from Highway 191 and reach the Fins at the edge of the Wilderness Study Area, you can take a shortcut by turning left and following the road through three rocky, technical sections in three washes. After the third wash, the road becomes sandy and you'll see a left turn with an area trail sign. This is the Behind the Rocks Loop Shortcut Trail. It is sand and rocky ledges, but since it runs downhill, it's a roll most of the way. However, don't try to ride up it. At the end, you'll cross a major wash to reach the road. Don't detour down this wash, which is a marked OHV trail, as it is a sand pit.
