When this extreme jeep trail is snow-covered it means only a handful of hikers will be out enjoying the area. The trail climbs steadily with one very steep but short scramble. The grand views of the La Sal mountains are behind you, so stop now and then to have a look.
The road is a mixture of sand and sandstone so even exposed wet sections are not slimy mud. The exposed sandstone is marked with black rubber where jeepers have left part of their tread behind. Be sure to leave the gate closed as the area is actively used for cattle grazing. The trail ends at a T-intersection with the better known Behind the Rocks Road. A delightful hike for views but don't expect quiet as the sounds of Hwy 191 follow you up the road.
