In mid May San Juan County Commissioners voted to pass an ordinance requiring all businesses in San Juan County to have a business license. 

A business license was in the works for San Juan County and in order to qualify county businesses for some of the COVID-19 relief funds, commissioners passed the ordinance in May. 

Meanwhile the county has decided to waive fees for businesses to acquire a license through December 31, 2020.

Most of the relief funding requires that businesses have a license of some kind. Bluff, Blanding and Monticello licenses were adequate but the county needed to be able to document that the businesses receiving funding had a license in one of those towns or have an application pending with the county. 

Business applications require the name, physical, mailing address and phone number of the person, partners or legal agents desiring the license. The nature of the business and where it is being conducted will also be required. Here is a portal for businesses that explains the process to Apply for a New Business License.
