San Juan County Commissioners last spring enacted a business license for those doing business in the unincorporated areas of the county. Businesses in municipalities such as Blanding, Monticello and Bluff are covered by licensure in those communities. 

The county is offering free business licenses through the end of the year. After December 31st the cost will be $50.

Home based businesses working in unincorporated San Juan County are not required to have a business license, however that could hinder a businesses ability to get insurance or qualify for grant funding through the county or state. To help in that regard, San Juan County is offering a home based business license as well. Currently the home based business license is free of charge but after December 31st,  2020 the fee for a home based business license will be $15 per year.

Deadline for applications for a free license is December 31st at 11:59 pm. Following that, fees will be in effect.
