Blue Mountain Hospital’s Jeremy Lyman took the time to respond to San Juan County Economic Development and Visitors Services office as part of our 5 questions series. Blue Mountain Hospital is a Critical Access Hospital located in Blanding and serving San Juan County. Here are Jeremy’s responses to our questions.
Can you give us some background on your career trajectory and how it landed you here?
I started working for BMH in 2010 as a contracted financial consultant. I was then hired on as Financial Manager. I was eventually promoted to CFO, and in January 2014 I was appointed as CEO.
Why did you choose to live in San Juan County?
I was born and raised in Blanding. I moved away for college, eventually earning my MBA at BYU. I got married, lived, started my family, and worked in Utah County until 2010, when I started working at BMH. I spent six months commuting (to Blanding on the weekdays, and back to Utah County on the weekends) and moved my family down once I was hired on as a permanent employee at BMH.
I have a strong connection to San Juan County. As a direct descendant of many of the early settlers, I feel a strong tie to the area and am grateful for the opportunity to be here.
When was Blue Mountain Hospital established?
BMH opened in July of 2009. It was July of 2010 when I first came to BMH as a financial consultant.
What type of services does Blue Mountain Hospital offer?
BMH offers emergency services, inpatient care, swing bed services, dialysis (hemodialysis and a brand new peritoneal dialysis service), obstetrics (labor & delivery services), radiology, laboratory, and surgical services (extensive general, orthopedic, ophthalmology, bariatric, and podiatry).
What would you recommend for those that might want to work or do business in San Juan County?
The healthcare industry has driven tremendous economic growth in San Juan County over the past two decades. Those seeking careers in healthcare, who become qualified and experienced in their field, will likely find opportunities for employment in San Juan County.
