Three newspapers are based within San Juan County: the Blue Mountain Panorama, the Canyon Echo, and the San Juan Record. First editions of The Salt Lake Tribune and The Deseret News are available at retail outlets. Other major newspapers from throughout the country arrive by mail to subscribing individuals.

AM and FM radio stations broadcast into San Juan County from Durango, Cortez, and Grand Junction, Colorado; Moab, UT and Farmington, New Mexico. Three FM Public Broadcasting stations are available: KUER from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City via a translator system; KCYN from Moab, UT and KSUT via broadcast from Ignacio, Colorado.

Television is received in San Juan County via a translator from Salt Lake City for ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, and KJAZ. Two Public Broadcasting television stations, also received via translator, are available from the University of Utah (KUER) in Salt Lake City, and Brigham Young University (KBYU) in Provo. Cable television service is available in both Blanding and Monticello.
